PUAWER005B Operate as part of an emergency control organisation


This course has been designed for individuals within all industries and contexts, who are required to implement an emergency response in the workplace. People who undertake this work will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation (ECO).

Training covers a broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745-2010. It encompasses all aspects of an emergency response and being part of the ECO team, such as preparation of workplace emergency procedures; alert and report potential workplace emergencies; evaluate the need to evacuate a work area; prepare for an evacuation; and assist people who may require assistance in accordance with workplace emergency procedures, communication and reporting.

Course Delivery
This course will be delivered in the workplace or at a Combined Safety Solutions training facility.

Course Duration (face to face)
• Face to Face – 4 hours (minimum) – full face to face course

This course is delivered and assessed by Combined Safety Solutions in partnership and under the auspice of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.

Work Placement Arrangements
No work placement will be required as part of this course.

Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

Entry Requirements
An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:
• Physical fitness to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills such as using equipment assigned to assist with implementing the workplace emergency procedures and providing assistance to those in need during an evacuation.
• Sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course.

What happens at the course?
You will be provided with the skills, knowledge and most importantly the confidence to relate to a range of people from a range of cultural, linguistic, social and ethnic backgrounds, and a range of physical and intellectual abilities and be able to show leadership in an emergency.

Assessment Activities
Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:
 Practical scenarios – The student must successfully demonstrate the following simulated practical
scenarios:
 Fire emergency
 Bomb threat

 Theory assessment – A written exam consisting of short answer and multiple-choice questions. All
questions must be completed.
