Installation Method:

Supplied with mounting fixings to securely attach the base plate to the substrate (concrete or suitable solid surface). Please make sure the surface is level and clean before installation. Fixings are included as standard.

Australia/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 5139:2019

The above standard governs the requirements and safety of battery systems. A BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), especially one installed in a location like a garage, is vulnerable to impact from cars, boats, trailers, or other machinery. Physical damage to a lithium-ion battery can be a major hazard, potentially leading to thermal runaway and fire.

The standard mandates that a BESS must not be installed in a location where damage from external influences is expected (e.g., from a vehicle). Bollards (or a suitable barrier) are the required mitigation measure to address this risk.

The bollard creates a safety exclusion zone to ensure a vehicle cannot physically make contact with the BESS, protecting the integrity of the battery cells and associated wiring.

Bollards must be installed in vehicle-accessible areas where the battery is located, positioned to protect the full width of the BESS, including the leading and trailing edges, especially if the battery is not adequately protected by a structural garage pillar.
